Auburn Technical Assistance Center (ATAC) has once again partnered with a Gateway Initiative investor to help bring professional development training to their business. Original Oyster House is nestled in the portfolio of ARK Restaurant Group, and has two locations both in Gulf Shores and on the Mobile Bay Causeway. Gateway was able to submit a grant through Southwest Alabama Partnership for Training and Employment (SWAPTE) for this training to be completely paid for with funds from the Alabama Workforce Stabilization Program (AWSP).
"One of my favorite classes was on Servant Leadership which helped us improve on self reflection, effective communications, relationship building and coworker recognition. Our introduction to learning about this excellent program came through our partnership with the Gateway Initiative. I can say now after going through the courses, it's one of the best investments we've made this year", said Cecilia Mace, who is the Marketing Director for the Original Oyster House restaurants.
She continued, "What made this graduation ceremony most unique was the participant’s last classwork assignment was to present by speech, the recipient’s [their coworker] graduation certificate. The speech was personalized to include the graduate’s attributes and contributions, all inspired by what was learned through the ATAC Organization Development Program."
