A total of 20 teams comprised of hospitality and culinary students competed this week at the Alabama ProStart Student Invitational. The annual competition is hosted by the Alabama Restaurant and Hospitality Association Foundation (ARHAF). Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach hosted the event and awards ceremony.
Gulf Shores High School's culinary students in Kristen Madsen's class wone first place in the Management Competition, where they developed and presented a new restaurant concept. They also won overall in the Best Beef Entree Competition. Shout out also to Baldwin Center for Technology for placing third in the Culinary Competition and winning Best Knife Skills in the Best Beef Entree Competition.
