AI & Lunch Wraps with Practical Training on Automating Social Media

The Gateway Workforce Initiative concluded its three-part “AI & Lunch” virtual training series this week, delivering practical insights into how businesses can use artificial intelligence to improve and automate their marketing efforts. More than 200 people participated in the series, which featured tools, real-world examples, and hands-on demonstrations.

The final session was led by Kai Gray, founder of Lower Alabama AI, who walked attendees through his step-by-step process for using AI to create and schedule social media posts. His presentation focused on using tools like ChatGPT to generate content and explained how business owners can save time without sacrificing quality.

"Writing posts was something I used to struggle with," Gray said. "Now, AI creates all of our content. I don’t have a marketing team or a social media coordinator. The system handles it, and it works."

Gray’s process includes curating articles with Feedly, organizing them in Google Sheets, summarizing and generating content with ChatGPT, and scheduling posts through Buffer. He emphasized the importance of clear and specific prompts, explaining that AI is most effective when given detailed instructions. He also showed how to avoid common indicators of AI-generated content and how to maintain a consistent tone.

Attendees came from a wide range of industries including tourism, food service, local government, and nonprofit organizations. The diversity of participants highlighted the broad relevance of AI tools across business sectors.

Michael Beauchamp, another contributor to the series, reminded participants that AI is not just about saving time but about increasing capacity. “AI hasn’t saved me time,” he said. “It has expanded what I can do. I am producing work I wouldn’t have had time to create before.”

Daniel Catlin, host of the series and Director of the Gateway Workforce Initiative, said the idea behind AI & Lunch was to make artificial intelligence more approachable for everyday business owners. “Just showing up to learn about these tools puts you ahead,” he told the audience.

With the summer season approaching, the series will take a break as local businesses shift into their busiest time of year. However, the resources from each session remain available for anyone who missed out or wants to review what was covered.

AI & Lunch has shown that artificial intelligence is no longer just a tool for tech companies. With the right approach, any business can use AI to work smarter, reach customers more effectively, and grow their impact.
