Gateway + SBLC Present at United Way's Annual Meeting

The Gateway Initiative has a wonderful partnership with the South Baldwin Literacy Council. Mitchell Lee who is the Executive Director for the literacy council has grown his programming tremendously in the last few years since becoming the Director. The SBLC is the only literacy council in the state with an in-house GED program as well as providing tutoring to children.

Mitchell and Ed Bushaw of the Gateway Team presented at the annual United Way meeting in an effort to connect some of their organizations to our investors who are committed to providing employment to our community members in need of career pathing.

A couple of organizations who reached out to Gateway after the presentation included the Baldwin County Sherriff's Boys Ranch and Under His Wings, a Christian home for girls. Both of these organizations help teenage boys and girls in crisis and/or traumatic situations by providing a loving and stable home. The Gateway Team and the South Baldwin Literacy Council are working together to help show these teens career paths and opportunities right here in south Baldwin County. We have also partnered with Dr. Josh Duplantis at Coastal Alabama Community College to arrange a tour in the coming weeks for the boys to see the new technical programs at the Underwood Road Campus in Foley.
